Do It: Costume and Fashion Designer Call for Stand-Up Fashion Show

All costume and fashion designers are welcome to apply to the Stand-Up Fashion Show hosted by Papa Weeze. Stand-Up Fashion is a show that combines great local fashion with hilarious local comedians for a night of fashion-police style entertainment.

“It’s going to be a fabulous fashion show filled with designs from Michigan-based artists and comedians,” says Barbie Weisserman, Executive Director of Papa Weeze. “This fun filled evening will also include voting on your favorite fashions, art galleries from local artists, and many great photo opportunities. Enjoy hors d' oeuvres and wine while you are dazzled by Detroit Fashion Designs!”

Papa Weeze, led by long-time theatre professional, Barbie Weisserman, aims to provide collaborative opportunities for professional artists. This arts collective marries the spontaneity of theatre, cabaret and improv with fashion, design and visual arts.


The show will go on at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 13 at 31440 Northwestern Highway in Farmington Hills. Tickets are $20 in advance and can be purchased at www.papaweeze.org or by calling 248.701.2643, or you can purchase tickets at the door for $25.

Do It: Display Your Designs at Stand-Up Fashion

This is short notice, but still noteworthy! Designers looking to show their collections in a fashion show should apply to the Stand-Up Fashion Show put on by the Papa Weeze Organization. Stand-up Fashion is happening Saturday, June 13; but the application deadline is this Friday, April 24.

Stand-Up Fashion welcomes and celebrates all varieties of local designers. It’s a show that marries stand-up comedians and avant-garde fashion designers for a Fashion Police inspired evening.

The application form is online, and designers will need to include quality images with up to four photos per design; design name, materials used and concept information will need to be included with the images. Designers in the show will need to provide their own models, hair and makeup. Each designer in the show will get a buy one, get one ticket for friends and family.

Papa Weeze was created to provide collaborative opportunities for professional artists to create and display all forms of art. The organization, led by Barbie Weisserman, will help professional artists of all forms including theatre, film, fashion, writers, choreographers, painters and more.
