Do It: Local Fashion-Business Guru has Partnered with ACCESS Growth Center for a Business Building Course

DGG Fashion Incubator Mentor, Andrea Rosenfeld, has partnered with ACCESS Growth Center for an 8-week, soup-to-nuts business building course for the creative community. The program, beginning Tuesday, October 20, will teach students everything from how basic business strategies and pricing to sales projections and working with clients.

Classes run Tuesday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. at the ACCESS Ferndale location. Parking is free for students and light refreshments are provided in each class, as well as a hand-printed binder form Ocelet Print Shop. The course costs $225, and you can register here. Sewing 101: Sewing Program Instructor to Offer Sewing & Craft Classes in August

If you've been wanting to learn a little about sewing, or just brush up on what you already know, but you don't want to commit to a full Industrial Sewing class at Henry Ford College, we have a solution for you! Sewing expert Rachna Chandra, of Taj Cottage and instructor for the Industrial Sewing Certificate Program, is offering her own sewing and craft classes this summer. Learn everything from how to create personalized pillowcases (a great gift idea for that summer wedding you are attending) to sewing crossbody bags and beach coverups for fun, summer activities.

On The Town: BUILD Institute Partners with Etsy to Bring Craft Entrepreneurship Program to Detroit

Etsy is coming to Detroit and partnering with BUILD Institute to bring the locals a Craft Entrepreneurship Program. Craft Entrepreneurship Program (CEP) is micro-business training for underemployed, low-income adults with existing skills, who are looking to make some cash on the side.

“Build Institute will be Etsy’s first partner in Detroit and is excited to bring this kind of creative, micro-entrepreneur training to the city,” says April Boyle, Executive Director of BUILD Institute. “Many small businesses are looking for ways to diversify their revenue streams and Etsy’s e-commerce platform is a great way to do that.”

CEP kicks off this April and students will participate in a 5-week, 12-hour training program that will guide them through the business of craft entrepreneurship. The course is open to the public for $100 and $75 for Build graduates. Students will learn the basics of starting and running an online business, and some of the basics that will be taught include pricing, accounting, product photography, and marketing.
