If you're a jeans fan, this is the place for you. In operation since 2010, all of their jeans are handmade in Detroit with everything sourced from American companies. Take a tour of the factory and see where all of their jeans are made. They also repair any pair of jeans you already have.

They offer space to artists, entrepreneurs, organizations, makers and nonprofits so they can work and create the best they can. They have free weekly tours every Wednesday at 2 p.m. This is a great place to start if you've never been to Ponyride before.

Going to brunch is a seemingly common activity on the weekends but trying to find a place to go can be quite difficult. We're providing you with some of the best places in and around Metro Detroit, along with an outfit to wear, that you can visit each weekend.

1. The Hudson Cafe, 1241 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48226

One of the newer restaurants on the Detroit scene, The Hudson Cafe offers a classic variety of brunch dishes with a unique spin on them. You don't want to miss the five variations of eggs benedict or the different pancake, french toast and waffle options. Monday through Friday they're open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday they're open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. The Huron Room, 2547 Bagley Ave., Detroit, MI 48216

The Huron Room is a unique brunch eatery with yummy surf and turf options. The Huron Omelet has smoked trout, cheese, capers, pickled onion and greens, and The Great Lakes Benedict is a take on the brunch classic with fish cakes. The main menu is also open during lunch. Brunch is available Friday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

3. Laika Dog at UFO Factory, 2110 Trumbull Ave., Detroit, MI 48216

Perfect for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, Laika Dog offers their signature omelets or tofu scrambles, or you can build your own. They also have waffle dogs and deep fried french toast. You don't want to miss their bottomless mimosas and bloody marys, either! Brunch is available Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you're looking for a non-traditional brunch, check out La Dulce for a Spanish-inspired feast. Check out their tapas, pork and waffles, and the fried egg over french fries. Brunch is on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

With breakfast running until 5 p.m. and even starting at 7 a.m., Honest John's is the perfect place for those friends you have that are late (or early) risers. Some of their signature items include the best chicken wings in Detroit, chicken and waffles and smothered hash browns. Some of their breakfast items are even available until they close at 2 a.m.

Parks & Rec serves up unique takes on dishes, while paying homage to your childhood and Detroit. Items like Saturday Morning Cartoons (pancakes made with cereal milk and toasted marshmallow syrup) and The Coney Waffle are things you definitely don't want to pass up. They also serve up boozy drinks, and their menu does change seasonally. Brunch is served Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Oh, Shop It: Trendy Eyewear Retailer to Open Store in Downtown Detroit

Warby Parker, a trendy eyewear retailer, is opening a shop in Downtown Detroit between the Woodhouse Day Spa and Kit + Ace.

Started in 2010, the New York City-based company designs and sells eyeglasses and sunglasses for men and women priced between $95 and $145, with the prescription included. The company began as an online-only retailer and has since opened more than 30 stores due to growing popularity.

"We're excited to add Warby Parker to our growing retail portfolio in Downtown Detroit. This brand entering the Detroit market is a significant sign of Woodward Avenue's continued momentum as a major shopping destination," Dan Mullen, executive vice president of Detroit real estate firm Bedrock, said in a Detroit Free Press article.

Oh, Shop It: Canadian Retailer Brings Store to Detroit

Kit and Ace, an upscale Canada-based retailer known for its technical apparel, has opened a flagship in Detroit. Located at 1449 Woodward Avenue in a historic Albert Kahn building, it is in the heart of Downtown.

This is the second Kit and Ace store to open in Detroit, which originally opened a small t-shirt store last year to build brand awareness before opening the flagship just last month. The store was founded in Vancouver, British Columbia in 2014 by Shannon and J.J. Wilson, the wife and son of Lululemon founder Chip Wilson.

The brand is trying to market its signature fabric, which is washable cashmere. There is everything from dresses and t-shirts, to jewelry and swimwear. The clothing is mainly aimed toward 20 to 30-year-old men and women and athletes. These clothes are for everyday life outside of the gym.

Kit and Ace is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Oh, Shop It: John Varvatos Opens Its First Midwest Retail Store

The John Varvatos press preview happened last night, and it was magical. Housed in the historic brownstone on Woodward Avenue, walking up to the store was like being transported to New York City. The building is beautiful and is owned and managed by Bedrock Real Estate Services; the storefront is minimalistic, yet it made a statement, and it complimented the rest of the brownstone perfectly. 

The store’s interior design takes inspirations from Varvatos’ store on the Bowery in NYC, which was formerly CBGBs, the seminal birthplace of the American punk movement, and it rocked. It’s 4,600 square feet on two levels and it offers a full product breadth of menswear including footwear, bags, belts, eyewear, limited edition watches and men’s fragrances.

“It’s with honor, passion, and pride that I open my newest store in my home town of Detroit,” said Varvatos. “This is a dream come true. Going back to my roots, where all my influences started, brings back so many great memories. I look forward to being a small part of building the future of this great city. Get on the Detroit train. It’s going to be a magical ride…”

The grand opening of the store is today, so head downtown, do a little shopping and stop by one of your favorite Detroit restaurants for a bite to eat. Pro tip: Whright & Company is just above John Varvatos, and the smells alone will lead you upstairs for good eats and a couple of cocktails.
