Oh, Shop It: Somerset Collection to Re-Open their CityLoft for the Holidays

CityLoft by The Somerset Collection will be making another appearance downtown this holiday season. The shops will be located at 1520 Woodward Avenue, next to the John Varvatos store. Opening Friday, November 18th from 11-9 p.m. Their normal hours will be Wednesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shop will run through December 18th.

In previous years, CityLoft shops included Vera Bradley, Swarovski, Williams-Sonoma, Louis Vuitton, Coach and more. This years shops will include 20 stores from the Somerset Collection that will rotate throughout the season.

Oh, Shop It: Zara to Open in Somerset Collection in 2017

Calling all style and fashion fans: Zara is finally coming to Michigan. Due by the holiday season in 2017, Zara will be debuting a 30,000-square foot, two level store on the north side of the Somerset Collection in Troy.

Zara is known for their fashionable and designer-esque clothing without the hefty price tag. They have about 2,100 stores worldwide and continue to expand. They recently opened stores in suburban Cleveland, suburban Baltimore and at the Mall of America in Minnesota. Until recently, the closest store to Metro Detroit was the Chicago location.

The Somerset store will carry men's, women's and children's clothing, as well as accessories. Unfortunately, there will be no plus sizes. This is a huge boost for Metro Detroit and its roster of stores.

Oh, Shop It: Holiday Shopping Made Easy Thanks to Local Mall

We all love shopping, right? Walking around the mall, searching for the perfect top to go with that skirt you've been dying to wear, or maybe it's getting the right gift for that special some one in your life. Either way, it's something nice to do, but shopping during the holidays is everything but nice. The parking, the lines, the shuffling around people texting while walking -- it's too much. Luckily, Somerset is taking that pain away, and making holiday shopping a little more efficient.

Somerset is offering roadside pick up from now until Saturday, December 19. It's like online shopping, but quicker and without all of those delivery fees. All you have to do is call up one of your favorite (well, let's be honest, all of your favorite) stores at the Somerset Collection, place an order of exactly what you want to purchase, drive over to the level 1 deck valet on the north side of the mall, and voila! You have all of your holiday shopping done, and you didn't even have to leave your car.

Oh, Shop It: The First Day of Spring Brings a Lush Gazebo Garden and New Garden Loft Store to the Somerset Collection

Celebrate the new season with the Somerset Collection at its North Grand Court Garden, opening on the first day of spring. The North Grand Court will be transformed to welcome the Easter Bunny’s arrival to a picturesque gazebo garden, and to celebrate the opening of Garden Loft, a curated collection of spring-themed merchandise from Somerset retailers.

The Spring Gazebo Garden features three stunning architectural gazebos with three complimentary spring gardens. Each gazebo will have a distinct design with fashion vignettes and beautiful surrounding landscape. One great feature of the Spring Gazebo Garden is the Lego Gazebo, where kids of all ages can play in the gazebo on the Lego table while they wait for a picture with the Easter Bunny.

A trip to see the Easter Bunny at The Somerset Collection is a magical experience. Not only will kids get their picture taken, but they will receive a tote bag with five colorful eggs filled with coins that represent a dollar being donated to the S.A.Y. Detroit Family Medical Clinic. Kids are encouraged to throw the coins collected in the fountain, and then the eggs can be taken to Hallmark, Sweet Factory, Haagen Dazs and Starbucks North to collect special complimentary Easter treats.

Don’t forget to stop into the Somerset Garden Loft, a pop-up shop featuring a curated collection of springtime inspired fashion, accessories and home goods from Somerset retailers. Oh, Shop It: Tank Magazine Editor Collaborates with Nordstrom

We all love an editor’s personal style, so why not shop it! Tank magazine’s Fashion Director Caroline Issa has teamed up with Nordstrom to create the Nordstrom Signature X Caroline Issa, and it’s available in stores today. This chic, but easy-to-wear collection will feature 25 ready-to-wear styles that will effortlessly transition from day to night.

The collection can be found in the “Collectors” department of Nordstrom and will range from $225 to $2,995. And, don’t think this will be a one-time deal, the assortment comes out today but will be continually updated for spring, pre-fall, fall and resort.

Oh, (Don’t) Shop It: C. Wonder to Close Its Doors

C. Wonder is a shop full of kitschy knick-knacks, glittery pieces of flare and a limited but fun line of clothing. It was reported about a couple of months ago that Chris Burch’s retail chain (or “revenge retail” chain as some people have called it – sorry Tory!) was slated to close some of its locations across the U.S., but now it looks like the company is closing for good. In a meeting with the 100 or so remaining employees, they were told that the 11 retail locations that are still open are shutting their doors for good and that includes the C. Wonder at the Somerset Collection in Troy.

"Due to the highly competitive nature of the current retail environment, C. Wonder will be closing its remaining stores,” a company spokesperson says. “The Company continues to evaluate its best alternative to maintain the C. Wonder experience for its customers."

C. Wonder has deleted a few social media accounts and the website will close down in a few weeks. So, farewell C. Wonder; you were a great go-to for girlfriends’ birthday and holiday gifts.

Oh, Shop It: The Somerset Collection CityLoft Opens in New Detroit Location

Located near the back of the First National Building in Detroit, the Somerset Collection CityLoft has taken up residence and brought more than 30 retailers with it. With stores including The Lego Store, 7 For All Mankind, Aveda and The Detroit Shoppe, it is truly one-stop shopping for you, family and friends.

“[CityLoft] is a great addition to a lot of the retail that is coming in downtown Detroit,” said Dan Mullen, vice president of development, Bedrock Real Estate Services.

This year, CityLoft is offering a new promotion; shoppers who spend $25 or more receive a $5 gift card to spend within the First National Building at its different shops. Make a day of it by doing a little shopping, grabbing lunch and then heading to Campus Martius for some holiday fun.

The shops will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday until December 23. The First National Building is located at 660 Woodward Ave., in Detroit.

Oh, Shop It: SJP Collection Comes to Michigan

The Somerset Collection is one of the five additional stores that now carry Sarah Jessica Parker’s eponymous collection of shoes and handbags. The line will feature classic, ladylike pumps, booties and riding boots in playful hues that will range in price from $285 to $695. Five new handbag styles ranging in price from $220 to $495 will also be featured in the collection. All of the shoes are named after women, including Pat Field and Blyth Danner, who inspire her.
