Bikes and Yoga: Season
Two Opener | Thursday, May 14
Detroit
Community Yoga has partnered with H2O Insightful Creativity, and Healthy Detroit
for Bikes and Yoga: Season Two Opener from 5:30 to 8 p.m. meeting at Wheelhouse
Detroit Bike Shop. Get into gear and enjoy a nice bike ride along the river walk
to the North Fishing Pier on Belle Isle where the yoga session will take place.
Once the yoga class is over, take an easy ride back to the Wheelhouse and enjoy
picturesque Detroit. Participants need to bring a bike, helmet, yoga mat, water
bottle, and layers (depending on the weather), and the event is free and open
to the public.
The Greening of Detroit 25th
Anniversary Gala | Thursday, May 14
Celebrate
25 years with the Greening of Detroit at its annual anniversary gala. The
Greening of Detroit has been making their mark all around Detroit to make it a
sustainable living area for years and have planted 6,000 to 7,000 trees
annually in hopes of making Detroit even more beautiful. This celebration will
showcase the amazing work that has been done over the years, while enjoying a
five course meal, with locally grown food, drinks, and more from 6 to 10 p.m.
at The Rattlesnake Club. Tickets are $250 and can be found on Eventbrite.

An Evening of Art +
Science | Thursday, May 14
Celebrate
the art of science at the second annual gala at 6 p.m. at the Detroit Institute
of Arts. Some of the best contemporary artists have created art inspired by the
science and medical research of the Taubman Scholars. All scientific art will
be auctioned off, and proceeds will go towards the DIA’s grants program. Enjoy
a night of art, science and music with cocktails and fine dining to keep

Work (What You Got) Shop

Have
you ever wanted to take a burlesque class? Well, you’re in luck! From 2 to 3
p.m., take part in a burlesque workshop at Flossy’s Suitcase. This class is
intended on making you feel your best inside and out, while giving you confidence and a work out! Sinnator Charlotte is the instructor for the class
and space is limited, so get your tickets as soon as you can. Tickets are $10
and can be purchased at Flossy’s Suitcase.

2015 Spring Open House |
Saturday, May 16
Support
locally made art at the 2015 Spring Open House from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the
Russell Industrial Center. RIC residents and artists will be converting their
studios into storefronts, and tours, exhibitions, and demonstrations will be
given throughout the evening. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

Eastern Market Flower Day | Sunday, May 17
Kick off the summer season beginning
at 7 a.m. (and you’ll want to get there as early as possible, because it gets
busy!) for the 49th Annual Eastern Market Flower Day. The end of
May is the best time to start working on your garden, so come to Eastern Market
to find the most beautiful flowers, plants, trees, fruits and
vegetables to add to your garden. Stores and restaurants will be open, so stick around and browse the shops and get something to eat while you're down there.
Arid Extension Bar
Launch! | Sunday, May 17
Come
out to Arid Blow Dry & Beauty Bar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as it launches
their Hair Extension Bar! Take advantage of the 30% off an entire service when
you book for extensions. A stylist will be on hand to do free dry styling along
with makeup touchups. Raffles and prizes will be given away all day, and reservations
are recommended, but walk ins are welcome.
