Oh, Shop It: Support Small Businesses During Shop Detroit

Check off that holiday shopping list and support local businesses on Small Business Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 29 in Detroit. Detroit Experience Factory (DXF) and Build Institute have come together in partnership with American Express’ Small Business Saturday to bring you the 11th annual Shop Detroit.

“Each year we get to feature more and more small businesses and really expand what Shop Detroit offers,” said Jeanette Pierce, Executive Director of Detroit Experience Factory. “This year we are excited to announce our DXF Shopping Checklist Challenge to encourage people to discover amazing small businesses they might not have known about before.”

Information about local retailers, special discounts and freebies, and free shuttle services will be available while shopping. Build Bazaar, a rotating pop-up marketplace celebrating emerging entrepreneurs, is a new addition to this year’s event. This program is presented by Build Institute will and will take place in the D:hive Welcome Center. A special Build holiday shopping gift guide is available both online and at the event for giftspiration (see what we did there).

“We’re excited to collaborate with DXF on this year’s Shop Detroit,” said April Boyle, Executive Director of Build Institute, “Our pop-up marketplace will feature an assortment of local Detroit vendors that malls don’t have.”
