On The Town: Hour Detroit's Best Dressed Fashion Show

Last Thursday, Detroit's fashion community came out to support the local best dressed men and women in Detroit. A Champagne Reception set the tone for the evening, and guests mixed and mingled with Detroit's fashion elite at The Whitney Detroit. Once the champagne reception was over, everyone strolled over to the Filmore Detroit for a Neiman Marcus fashion show, and to see Detroit's most fashionable people in 2015. Hour Detroit's Best Dressed men and women sauntered down the catwalk for an unforgettable show. Once the show was over, the evening ended with an after party we won't soon forget.

If you missed any of the action, we snapped a few pictures for you. Scroll through, and set a reminder on your phone for next year's Best Dressed party - you won't want to miss it.

The Most Fashionable of Halloween Costumes: Part 2

Sandy, from Grease: Tell them about it, stud! Put on your skinniest black wax jeans or leather pants, and tightest top, then curl your hair and sing, “You’re the one that I want, ooh, ooh, ooh, honey,” all night long.

Holly Golightly, from Breakfast at Tiffany’s: Chic will be the only way to describe you when wearing this costume. Wrap your hair into a high bun, Grab your little black dress and top it off with a tiara and dark glasses. Easy as pie.

Maggie Pollitt, from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof: Another way to wear your white, flowy dress is as Elizabeth Taylor’s character in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Be sure to take everyone’s drinks away from them all night.

Iris, from Taxi Driver: With a fun crop top, red high-waist shorts, platform shoes and a wide-brimmed hat, this is bound to be one fun and fashionable Halloween costume!

Maverick, from Top Gun: Not your typical Tom Cruise costume—the button-down white shirt and socks is so overdone—this costume will make you feel the need for speed. Pull out your army-inspired pieces, pair them with aviators and grab a Goose lookalike to join you for your Halloween festivities.

Jessica Rabbit, from Who Framed Roger Rabbit: The ultimate “sexy” Halloween costume, Jessica Rabbit wears a red, long, body-conscious dress with purple gloves and high heels. Give your hair a deep side part and don’t forget the red lipstick.

On the Town: DIFFA Cocktails by Design

DIFFA Dining by Design is a one-of-a-kind, three-day event that showcases Michigan’s local design talent. People in a variety of creative communities are paired with table sponsors to create three-dimensional dining installations…and they are seriously fabulous. DG3 had a sneak peak of the event space while going on a walk through for our Local Designer Accessories Runway Show, which we are presenting at the DIFFA Dining by Design Gala on Saturday, Sept. 20, and we were blow away.

We attended Thursday evening’s DIFFA Cocktails by Design, which is the jam-packed social occasion of the year. The tables were gorgeous and so incredibly different and artistic, the food and drinks were divine, and of course the fashion was right on point.

From body-hugging cocktail dresses to fun separates and ladylike silhouettes, there was really something for everyone. Noticeably, a lot of women doneed midi skirts and dresses, which is incredibly demure but still really sexy. And the men! Many of the gents in attendance wore dashing suits, and a few of them really stepped it up with great pattern combinations, bow ties and even bags. So chic.

DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) is one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS services and education organizations, and locally is put on by the Michigan Aids Coalition. For more information, visit www.michiganaidscoalition.org.
