On The Town: If I Must Exhibition & Fall Trend Preview

Last night was a two-for with local photographer Boswell Hardwick's If I Must exhibition and Neiman Marcus' Fall Trend Preview. The looks, as well as the photographs, were so chic.

For the fall, expect to see (and want to purchase) bold golds and metallics, fall florals, velvet EVERYTHING, chokers, adorned shoes and dramatic eyes. For the fellas, you will see a lot of browns (from camel to whiskey), velvet, 70s swagger, attitude tees and statement top coats. As you can see in the photos below, the oh so fabulous team at Neiman Marcus styled all of these trends perfectly; I almost died when I saw that metallic skirt.

I'd say it's worth it to take a walk through the store and look at the mannequins--there really aren't better dressed mannequins around town. Also, if you haven't seen Boswell's work head over to Neiman Marcus this weekend! It will be on display until Sunday. See, two great excused for you to pop into Neiman Marcus this weekend. You're welcome.

Oh, Shop It: Spring is in the Air (Despite the Snow)

New York Fashion Week is upon us, and while we may not be soaking up the fashion making its way down the runway (well, in person at least -- thank goodness for live streams!), we did get our fashion fix courtesy of Neiman Marcus Troy. The night started out with specialty cocktails by Two James Spirits, delicious light bites and mingling with other fashionistas and fashionistos.

What's in for spring? For the ladies, it's bare shoulders, lace, confident reds and wide-leg pants. For the dudes, you can expect distressed denim, bold jackets, the new bomber and military influences. The show started with bold reds, moved into off-the-shoulder for the ladies and bomber jackets for the guys, then shifted into full-on denim looks and finished up with lace.

It was perfect, exciting and super springy - which is exactly what we all need about now. See our runway looks below!

On The Town: Biggest Sale of the Year - Don't Miss Out

A few days ago, something magical happened. The lovely ladies at Neiman Marcus informed DGG that they were one of seven stores to receive a special consolidation package of Fall/Winter merchandise from across the country. Not only will Neiman Marcus Troy have brands like Azzedine Alaïa, Balmain, Victoria Beckham, Christian Dior and more available for purchase, but everything will be up to 70% off. Sale merchandise across different departments, including Couture, Designer Sportswear, Men's Clothing, Ladies Shoes, CUSP and Dress Collections will be included in the sale.

To celebrate the occasion, NM Troy is having a special sale from 6 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, January 21 with 10% of the proceeds going to DGG. There will be drinks, shopping and a contest. Here are the contest the rules:

  1. Participants must create a "Wear It's At" post. If you're not familiar with that department on the blog, it's all about creating outfits around a specific trend. The trend for this contest is Chic Shopping. What we are looking for is an outfit that is comfortable enough to wear shopping all day, yet seriously chic.
  2. All you need to do is create one look using the merchandise at Neiman Marcus. You can do that by putting together one outfit either online using images from the NM website, photo shopping it together and submitting to lindsey@detroitgarmentgroup.org by 1/18/16, OR putting together an outfit at the event on 1/21/16 and either sending to that same email address or tagging/direct messaging it on Instagram to @detroitgarmentgroup.
  3. All participants must be present at the consolidation event to be eligible to win. At the registration table, there will be a list to sign if you have entered or are planning on styling an outfit to submit at the event.
  4. One winner will get his or her outfit posted on DGG's blog Style Factory, and win a Martinis & Manolos night. Details below.
Because this sale is so big, we'll be posting pictures over the next couple of weeks of items and outfits to start getting everyone excited about the event. Don't forget to follow DGG on Instagram for a behind-the-scenes look of the arrival of the consolidation merchandise and the preparation of it for shoppers with a NM Troy Instagram takeover. NM Troy will document it all to give you a sneak peak of what has arrived and how it's going to be merchandised. It's going to be crazy, so if you're not following us on Instagram already, we would highly suggest you follow @detroitgarmentgroup now.

These will be the deepest discounts of the season, so you're not going to want to miss it. Any questions about the event or contest can be directed to Lindsey at lindsey@detroitgarmentgroup.org. Please RSVP for the event by calling 248.816.3413 or sending an email to rsvptroy@neimanmarcus.com.

If you missed any of the action, we snapped a few pictures for you. Scroll through, and set a reminder on your phone for next year's Best Dressed party - you won't want to miss it.
