Do It: Best of Detroit Gala 2017

Hour Detroit is hosting their annual Best of Detroit party at the Joe Louis Arena on Friday, June 23!

You don't want to miss the flavors, sounds and fashions of Hour Detroit's Best of Detroit's winners, hosted by Evrod Cassimy from WDIV Local 4. There will also be a live performance by Ben Sharkey on the main stage.

Participating restaurants include Beyond Juicery + Eatery, Redcoat Tavern, Slows Bar BQ, Social Kitchen and Bar, Vince & Joe's, and many, many more!

VIP tickets are $175 and include early entry at 6 p.m. so you can be the first to try the yummy food, with access to to the exclusive VIP lounge. General admission tickets are $100. You can purchase both here. This event is 21+.

Chairs for Charity Presented by Empathy313 | Thursday, November 3
Join Hour Detroit magazine and Empathy313 for an unforgettable evening at the Garden Theater. This first annual Chairs for Charity fundraiser will showcase local talent in the art and design community in a unique pop-up gallery of extraordinary chair installations. Sip cocktails, enjoy gourmet bites and bid on beautiful works of art to raise funds for dozens of local charities in the Give Detroit Challenge. Tickets are available here.

Well Done Goods' Grand Opening Party | Friday, November 4
Find out what happens when aliens crash-land in Detroit with a load of designery favorites from the MoMA Store, a local screenprinting shop and a natural history museum's basement from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Well Done Goods by Cyberoptix grand opening party. American Style and Spirit Exhibition Preview Reception | Friday, November 4
To kick off the Henry Ford Museum's brand new exhibition featuring over 130 years of American style, there will be a preview party from 7 to 10 p.m. You can be the first to see the exhibit while enjoying passed hors d' oeuvres and a wine bar. Hour Best Dressed Fashion Show | Thursday, September 29
Come out to The Fillmore for Hour Detroit's Best Dressed fashion show, presented by The Somerset Collection and hosted by Amy Andrews of FOX 2. Celebrate with 2016 best dressed winners in style by sipping on yummy cocktails, eating delicious light bites and enjoying a runway show. Doors open at 6 p.m., and for tickets, click here.

Library at Night Tour | Thursday, September 29
Experience the Detroit Public Library's magnificent architecture and art underneath the stars at this awesome experience. This tour is a perfect date night, fun time with friends or just a wonderful visit to Detroit. You'll learn the hidden secrets, backstories and hidden nooks of the acclaimed main library. You decide how much your ticket will cost, but all proceeds will support the HYPE Teen Film Festival on October 15. This goes from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are available here.

Director's Cut Talk: Alger Theater | Thursday, September 29
Get to know DIA Director Salvador Salort-Pons as he talks about his background, a brief history of the museum and what his plans are for the historic Alger Theater, where the talk will be taking place. You will have an opportunity to ask questions after the talk, and a reception will follow. The talk starts at 6 p.m. This event is free to the public.

Oktoberfest in the Park | Saturday, October 1 through Sunday, October 2

Fall Flavor Weekends in Greenfield Village | Saturday, October 1 through Sunday, October 2
Celebrate and explore more than three centuries of America's food centuries during this fun-filled weekend at Greenfield Village. You'll be able to experience an abundance of harvest season flavors at the Saturday Local Roots Farmers Market (this is only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), cooking demonstrations inside the historic homes and free samples of products. This is free for members, but non-members can purchase tickets here.

Hard Cider & Donuts | Sunday, October 2
Enjoy another round of hard cider and donuts at Michigan by the Bottle Tasting Room, but this time at the Royal Oak location! Donuts and cider will be available for purchase together or individually. Cider flavors include Verterra Winery Just Apple, Cherry Blush, Raspberry Rush, Blackberry Bliss, Sweet Peach Chaos Hard Ciders and the current on-tap Chateau de Leelanau cider.

Hour Detroit's Best of Detroit Party | Friday, June 24
Hour Detroit will be bringing the best of Detroit together at its 11th annual Best of Detroit party. From 7 p.m. to midnight, enjoy an evening of amazing hors d'oeuvres and cocktails from over 30 restaurants and phenomenal entertainment. This is all happening at MotorCity Casino Hotel. The event showcases the best restaurants, style, bars and entertainment as voted by Hour Detroit's readers in its 17th annual poll. You can purchase tickets here.

DGG Fashion Incubator Pop-Up Shop | Friday, June 24
If you haven't seen our fashion incubator, now's your chance. Not only will you be able to get an inside look at where our fabulous entrepreneurs-in-residence work, but you'll also be able to shop great, locally designed items from them. Designers include Gabriella Gonzales, Jesse Jane and more! We're located at TechTown, so parking is free and can be found directly on the street, next to the building or in the larger lot at the corner of Amsterdam and Cass. Please sign in when you arrive, and then head up to floor 3, suite 390. Signs will be there to guide you. This goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Boswell is an internationally recognized photographer specializing in fashion, beauty and portraiture. This local photographer has worked all over the world, but will be highlighting his life in Paris at the Robert Kidd Gallery in Birmingham. Starting at 6 p.m., the opening reception, for his newest gallery, If I Must, depicts very modern and gritty Parisian architecture, fashion and portraits. No You Can't, an erotic capsule collection, will also be featured. The event starts at 6 p.m. and will be held at Robert Kidd Gallery.

Do It: Hour Detroit's Best of Detroit Party

Want to experience the best of Detroit? Make sure to come down to Hour Detroit's Best of Detroit party from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, June 24 at MotorCity Casino Hotel. This memorable evening of fun will give you a taste of the best local restaurants and businesses Detroit has to offer. There will be amazing hors d'oeuvres and cocktails from over 30 restaurants, as well as phenomenal entertainment. The event showcases the best restaurants, bars, style and entertainment as voted by Hour Detroit readers in its 17th annual poll.

All of this will be happening in the extraordinary ballroom and Sound Board at the hotel. The event will be hosted by Amy Andrews from Fox 2 News, with entertainment by Killer Flamingos and percussionist Jared Sykes.

On The Town: Hour Detroit's Best Dressed Fashion Show

Last Thursday, Detroit's fashion community came out to support the local best dressed men and women in Detroit. A Champagne Reception set the tone for the evening, and guests mixed and mingled with Detroit's fashion elite at The Whitney Detroit. Once the champagne reception was over, everyone strolled over to the Filmore Detroit for a Neiman Marcus fashion show, and to see Detroit's most fashionable people in 2015. Hour Detroit's Best Dressed men and women sauntered down the catwalk for an unforgettable show. Once the show was over, the evening ended with an after party we won't soon forget.

DIY Street Fair | Friday, September 25
Ferndale welcomes back one of the last fairs of the season, the DIY Street Fair. Spend a day in Ferndale for countless DIY designers, creators, and products. These local, one-of-a-kind products are perfect for any birthday gift, holiday gift, or just-because. Bring the kids from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. to make crafts, do hands on activities, and get their face painted while you stop at the Beer and Wine Garden for a quick drink. Performances will be happening all day at a stage located close to The Loving Touch featuring Rock & Roll Prep School, The Electric Six, Billy Brandt, Warhorses, and many more. Nick Cave's "Heard-Detroit" | Saturday, September 26
Nick Cave is continuing his performance series Heard-Detroit at Milliken State Park this weekend. This project will feature 30 life-size sculptures of horses along the Detroit riverfront, and 60 dancers from the Detroit School of Arts and Wayne State University will operate the sculptures. Cave is hoping to captivate his audience by creating a “dreamlike vision that stops everyday life for a collective transformative moment.” Bring a blanket and sit by the river to watch the art in front of your eyes. This event is sure to be a once in a lifetime sight and experience.

Dine Drink Detroit Launch Party | Monday, September 28
Mark your calendar for the Dine Drink Detroit’s annual Launch Party from 6 to 11 p.m. at Gabriel Richard Park. Presented by Brooklyn Outdoor, Dine Drink Detroit brings together Detroit’s best food, drinks and music for a special night on the Detroit Riverfront. Sip on cocktails and munch on food from Stockyard or El Guapo as you listen to Stan Sommerson and DJ Godfather. Take a break from the music and enjoy a special video presentation on the city of Detroit, or an optional Slow Roll Monday with the bike ride meeting at 6 p.m. and leaving at 7 p.m. Tickets $15 and include three drink tickets, $25 and include five food and drink tickets, or $50 and include six food and drink tickets along with a VIP bar by Thomas Magee's Sporting House Whiskey Bar.
