Drinks x Design: Interaction  Design | Thursday, November 10
For the month of November, Drinks x Design will activate the CCS Taubman Center with a celebration of interaction design. Join the CCS MFA Interaction Design and BFA Communication Design departments, Grand Circus, members of Detroit's User Experience community and the Drinks x Design sponsors Vitamin T and Aquent as they showcase their industry. This specific edition of Drinks x Design is a part of World Usability Day, a single day of events occurring around the world, uniting interactive professionals to ensure that the services and products important to life are human-centered, easy to access and simple to use. This is a free event, but registration is required, here.

PLAYGROUND DETROIT Presents "Ambience"Group Exhibition | Thursday, November 10
This will be a group exhibition featuring Detroit-based artists Scott Klinker, Steve McShane, George Vidas and Patrick Ethen. Each of these artists utilizes light as their medium from a different perspective, expressing its physical, physiological and psychological capabilities through color, pattern and communication. The exhibition will run from November 10 through December 8. The opening reception will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Detroit is the New Black.

A Networking and Professional Development Event | Friday, November 11

Come out for a fun, festive and free ladies night out! PLAYGROUND DETROIT presents Patrick Ethen's first solo exhibition from 6 to 9 p.m. at PLAYGROUND DETROIT. Patrick Ethen is an artist and designer whose work has been seen as large installation sculptures at Detroit’s world famous music festival, Movement. 2016 - Annual Downtown Detroit "Meridian Winter Blast" | Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14

The Annual Downtown Detroit Meridian Winter Blast even is back from Friday to Sunday this weekend at Campus Martius. Free ice skating, cool ice sculptures, marshmallow roasting, a giant ice slide and other types of entertainment will be happening all weekend. Over 50 acts will be performing on two different stages placed around the event, and make sure you come hungry because a Taste of Detroit food tent will have local restaurants, stores and artisans on hand for you to grab a snack. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the little ones to play in the special kids zone complete with a warming station. Open City Detroit - Location, Location, Location | Monday, February 15

Open City is a forum to bring small business together, whether they are just getting started or already established. This month's discussion will focus on locating commercial space for your business and cutting through the red tape. Lisa Berden, Senior Attorney at Miller Canfield; Steve Ogden, Director of Real Estate Development for Bedrock Real Estate Services; and James Feagin, Outreach Manager for Motor City Match are the featured panelists for the evening with KiKi Louya of The Farmer's Hand moderating the evening. The event is free, and open to the public.

On The Town: Playground Detroit Presents Multi-Media Artist, Dessislava Terzieva

Playground Detroit is proud to present multi-media artist, Dessislava Terzieva, in her first solo exhibition this Tuesday, November 10. Terzieva has roots in Detroit, being that she received a BFA in Political Science and went to Wayne State University’s law school for one year. She has always been passionate about political and social issues and has found an innovative way to make them more expressive by “expanding on them through art.”

To open the dialogue and create a new way of thinking about political and social issues, Terzieva chose to communicate via art rather than communicating in “the system in which they already exist.” Terzieva started her artistic journey only four years ago with collage, and has grown leaps and bounds to where she is today. She has developed and created these collages that give items a newfound importance that can allow for open communication in this 360-degree, immersive experience.

Terzieva was inspired by drug busts, dollar stores, and the motor oil bottle aisles at Meijer. Based on these sources of inspiration, she has created a political statement presenting the layout of confiscated items, the topic of [dis]organized chaos, and excess. She hopes that the audience will immerse themselves in this piece and be able to consider their own views of spirituality once they walk through installation and arrives at an altar.

Gather up some friends to enjoy a Tuesday night of analyzing an installation while having open conversations about spirituality, excess, and chaos in our world. The opening reception for this exhibit is from 6 from 8 p.m. at The Playground, located at 1535 Sixth St., 3rd Floor, in Detroit. At this reception, you have the chance to be some of the first viewers of this piece of work that has transformed the space into a gift shop of an ancient cathedral that was owned by a revolutionary
