Do It: This Weekend’s Fashion, Beauty and Style Events that Are Not To Be Missed



This weekend is chock-full of fun and fashionable things to do, so if you’re itching to hit the town, these events will keep you busy!

2015 Whitney Garden Parties | Thursday, June 11
Another week, another garden party! Mix and mingle to the tunes of The HandGernades and Jibs Brown from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Whitney. If you’re into rock and blues, this event is perfect for you! There will be a $5 cover charge, $5 brats, and $5 craft beers.


The Whitney Restaurant is located at 4421 Woodward Ave., in Detroit.

“The Dream Is Now” Exhibition: Closing Reception | Friday, June 12
Fine artists and Detroit Community High School Teacher Paula Schubatis and her students have created “The Dream is Now” exhibition, featuring collaborative artwork with Paula and students, as well as her own work. 24 Karat Karaoke hosts the exhibition at The Carr Center, so view some beautiful artwork while enjoying drinks, light bites and surprises from 6 to 9 p.m.

Stand-Up Fashion Show | Saturday, June 13
Join Papa Weeze Productions and Professional Arts as they showcase Michigan designers, along with Michigan comedians, for a Fashion Police-style runway show. From 6 to 9 p.m., enjoy a good laugh, while watching the latest designs in Michigan walk down the runway. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $25.


Stand-Up Fashion Show takes place at 31440 Northwestern Hwy., in Farmington Hills.

2nd Annual Hunt for a Cure | Saturday, June 13
Join JDRF Young Leadership Committee and channel your inner detective to race around the streets and bars of Royal Oak for a scavenger hunt to help end Type 1 Diabetes. Create a team between 2 and 6 of your smartest and most fun friends, register on the website and show up between 5 and 6 p.m. on June 13 at Fifth Avenue to get the evening started. Uncover clues and secrets until about 8 p.m. when the completed tasks will be counted and cash prices will be given out. The cost of the evening is $60 per person, and participants must be 21 and older to compete. Registration and more information can be found on JDFR
