Grand Opening at The Somerset Collection | Friday, May 26
Alex and Ani is celebrating the opening of their brand new store at The Somerset Collection! There will be light bites, shopping and the chance to win free prizes. Lisa, the Detroit Tigers in-park host, will also be there. This event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To RSVP, email 'Somerset' to rsvp@alexandani.com.

Belle Isle Bike Tour | Saturday, May 27
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. explore Belle Isle via a bike tour. You'll see the beautiful architecture on the island, including the Flynn Pavilion, the Aquarium, the Boat and Yacht Clubs, the Casino and the Livingstone Lighthouse. There will be stops at the Conservatory, Aquarium and Dossin Great Lakes Museum. The tour distance is 15 miles. The tour will start at Wheelhouse Detroit Bike Shop, and you can purchase tickets here.

Kensington Metropark Art Fair | Saturday, May 27 through Monday, May 29
This art fair at Maple Beach in the metropark will showcase dozens of artists across different mediums from all around the country. There will also be gourmet food trucks, live art demonstrations and hands-on art activities. The art fair will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. An annual or daily pass is required to get into the park but the art fair is free.

Riverside Sundays | Sunday, May 28
Each Sunday you can end your weekend at Riverside Marina for a day of family fun with live music and food with other boaters. There will be BBQ and brunch, a DJ and live drummer, massages, and so much more! This event will be all day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Transient slips are free for everyone no matter what marina you're from.

Walk Fashion Show | Sunday, May 28
From 1 to 10 p.m., come out to Shed 5 at Eastern Market for a whole day of fashion. Designers include international, celebrity designer Stevie Boi, as well as some of the top independent designers in the country. You can purchase tickets here.

2016 Motor City Pizza Fest | Thursday, August 4
From 6 to 10 p.m. come on down to the Royal Oak Farmer's Market to try pizza from some of the best places in Metro Detroit. A total of 10 pizza places will be featured, including Tania's Pizza, Dolly's Pizza, Detroit Style Pizza, Detroit Pizza Factory, Shield's Pizza, Primo's Pizza and more. Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased here, or they are $12 at the door.

Fisher Mansion Carriage House Sale | Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6
Visit the historic Charles T. Fisher mansion during the Boston Edison neighborhood attic sale. You can come Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pewabic tiles, a Hudson's building artifact, old Vernor's collectibles, costume jewelry, furniture, antiques and much, much more will be for sale. Cash and credit cards are accepted, and the sale will be held in the gated back yard.

4th Annual Sidewalk Festival | Friday, August 5 through Saturday, August 6
The Sidewalk Festival is back to celebrate Detroit landscape and culture through performance and interactive installation. Over two days there will be over 50 performances and artworks in alleys, storefronts, sidewalks, community gardens, parking lots and the street itself. The event starts Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. and goes into Saturday from 2 to 10 p.m. This will take place at the Artist Village Detroit.

Women Makers Pop-Up | Saturday, August 6
The first ever Detroit Women's Maker Collective is popping up from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Detroit Denim. Local makers include Alchemy Detroit, BLANK Ti BLANK, Factory Imperfect, A Wool Story, Creo by Keca and more, selling clothing, jewelry, body care products, bags and other fun items. This talented group of artisans are woman-owned, and their goods are handmade in the U.S.

Blo Blow Dry Bar Birmingham Grand Opening | Friday, August 5 through Sunday, August 7
The Blo Blow Dry Bar in Birmingham is having its grand opening celebration all weekend. Get $25 blowouts, as well as have fun at the pink carpet celebration. This is a great event to network and enjoy yourself with pink champagne and cupcakes. A portion of the grand opening proceeds will go toward The Pink Fund. Historic Boston-Edison Attic Sale 2016 | Saturday, August 6 through Sunday, August 7
The Boston-Edison Attic Sale is back from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. This is your chance to get antiques, amazing vintage finds and unique pieces all around from the 36 block spread of the Boston-Edison neighborhood. This event is free and open to the public.

Belle Isle Art Fair | Saturday, August 6 through Sunday, August 7

Blossoms is hosting an open house for their brand new location in Midtown. This event goes from 1 to 4 p.m., and you'll be able to shop around while enjoying champagne and cake.

CREATIVE SOUL Workshop: Using Social Media to Market Your Creative Business | Thursday, April 21
Collaborating with Social Marketing by Amanda and the N'Namdi Atelier course program, the Creative Soul Series is a social media workshop aimed toward entrepreneurs and artistic people who want to get better at social media to promote their brand. With this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn how to engage online, grow your business, find quality content for your social media and have your followers engage more. Each session is about 45 minutes and will cover the best strategies and practices to make the most out of your social media accounts. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops and tablets. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first session will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Meet Me In The Street - Live Streetside Fashion Show | Saturday, April 23
Darakijan Jewelers and Dolce MODA are teaming up to turn Downtown Birmingham into a live streetside fashion show featuring the new spring jewelry lines by Italian design house Rebecca and contemporary men's fashions. Look out for the purple and white swag bags, as each has a chance to win Rebecca jewelry from Darakijan Jewelers or a menswear item from dolce MODA. All proceeds will benefit yours truly, DGG. The event starts at 11 a.m.

PoshDeux Hair~Fashion~Makeup Event | Saturday, April 23
PoshDeux is having their third annual Hair, Fashion and Makeup Show -- a creative experience combining elegance and creativity. The best fashion and beauty professionals in Metro Detroit will be showcasing new dimensions in platform artistry. A portion of the proceeds from the event will again benefit yours truly, DGG. The event starts at 7 p.m. and will be held at Electric Studio.

Caffeinated Clothing Swap | Saturday, April 23
In honor of Earth Day, Always Brewing Detroit is hosting a clothing swap for all sizes, genders and ages. They'll organize everything, so just come down and get caffeinated while you build a new wardrobe. The swap goes from 12 to 4 p.m.

Girls Rock Detroit Clothing Swap | Saturday, April 23
Come listen to some awesome music while sifting for some new clothes. This swap is hosted by Girls Rock Detroit and Trumbullplex. There is a suggested donation of $5 with donation of clothing and $8 without. The event starts at 5 p.m.

2016 Spring Clean Up | Saturday, April 23
Come down to Belle Isle and celebrate Earth Day by helping bring the park to life again for this season. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Flynn Pavilion at 8 a.m. for registration and site assignments. Please dress appropriately and bring work gloves. Supplies are provided, but it would be appreciated you could bring a rake or any other tools you might prefer to use. Recreation passports will be available to purchase at registration. Afterwards, refreshments will be served at the Flynn Pavilion. Certificates for earned community service credit with awarded on site. Any groups of 15 or more are asked to pre-register with Genevieve Nowak at nowakg@belleisleconservancy.org or 313-334-7053.


Taste of Iran | Sunday, April 24
Peace Meal Kitchen will be hosting its first ever pop-up event featuring Iranian food and music. You'll get the opportunity to learn more about Iranian food, geography, language and culture. A large percentage of the profits will be donated to the OMID Foundation. No ticket or reservation is needed, just bring some friends, stop by and enjoy some tasty food.

Closet Essentials Workshop with Halston | Sunday, April 24
Discover the art of a complete wardrobe in a 2 hour professional styling workshop, hosted at Halston Heritage in Somerset Collection South. Hosted by personal stylists Courtney Camp Miarka of Closet Fashion Fix and Dana Miles Frost of The Closet Confessional, guests will learn the twelve essential pieces every closet needs and how to wear them to created endless outfits. Attendees will also receive personalized styling tips that can be used to create new outfits with the clothes you already have. Shop for closet essentials with the help of personal shoppers, and bring one personal clothing item that you would like help styling to get some advice. Valuable styling resources will be available to take home after this workshop. #WeAreFoodLab - 3rd Annual FoodLab Celebration | Thursday, December 3
The incredible people that make up the FoodLab Network invite you to a night of awards and celebrations, this Thursday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Gleaners Community Food Bank. Share tasty eats as you help to honor the wonderful members, partners, and extended FoodLab family that has made such a difference in our community.

Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village | Thursday, December 3
Put on your gloves, hats, and scarves to come out for a night of festive fun in Greenfield Village from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Enjoy a lantern-lit journey into a living snow globe with live music, skating, fireworks, and more winter wonders. The evening will be a magical night to remember as you stroll through the streets, stepping back in time. Horse drawn wagons, costumed presenters, and Santa will be in attendance at this holiday celebration and you surely don’t want to miss that.

Light Up the Aquarium | Friday, December 4
Who could turn down a night of bubbly, hors d’oeurves from Park Grill, Paul Carey Trio for entertainment, and a silent auction all to raise money for the 110-year-old Belle Isle Aquarium? Stroll the historic aquarium and conservatory, decked out to resemble the turn of the last century, with bell ringers and violinists. Ticket prices and levels can be found on the Belle Isle Conservancy website and should be purchased before the event to ensure your attendance. Extra tickets will be available at the door for $65.

2015 Detroit Urban Craft Fair | Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5
The Detroit Urban Craft Fair is finally here! Change out of your warm pajamas for a two-day alternative craft fair, now in its tenth year. Browse over 100 handmade crafters and indie artists and find one-of-a kind items and the people that made them. Hours are 6:00 – 9:00p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. – 8:00p.m. on Saturday. This isn’t any ordinary craft show, the venue is the Masonic Temple, which we have all grown to know and love. Start checking off your Christmas shopping list with personalized, handmade products at reasonable prices.

Noel Night | Saturday, December 5
Build Bazaar is partnering with Midtown Inc. and The Majestic Theatre for this year’s Noel Night, featuring over 50 vendors, music, live art, food, drinks, and more! From 5 to 10 p.m., come to Detroit’s Midtown District where over 70 institutions such as the DIA, Michigan Science Center, Detroit Historical Museum, Detroit Design Center, and Detroit Public Library will open their doors to the public free of charge. Spend this Cultural Center-wide holiday open house on a horse-drawn carriage, doing some holiday shopping, family crafts, and making memories. The night will come to a close with a very moving community sing-along on Woodward led by the Salvation Army Band. The Art of Detroit | Friday, August 21
Celebrate the city and the surrounding suburbs with the 2nd Annual Art of Detroit from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 21 at Saks Fifth Avenue. Guests are encouraged to “travel the M-1 Rail” through the store to enjoy food from local restaurants, sip on custom cocktails and view original artwork by students and graduates of College for Creative Studies. Café ML, 220, Townhouse, Imerman Cake Company, Rock City Eatery, Atwater Brewery, London Chop House and more local favorites will provide food stations and custom cocktails. 2nd Annual Tomato Festival | Saturday, August 22
If you're looking to spend time doing something fun with your family this weekend, head to the 2nd Annual Tomato Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. at Detroit Farm and Garden. Guests will enjoy horse-drawn hayrides, a tomato toss, a temporary tattoo booth and live music by "A Hot Mess." Local vendors will be on hand to purchase goodies, and attendees will get a chance to taste different local treats like samples of locally grown tomatoes, Slow's Bacon, Avalon Farm Bread and more. Also, if you have a mean tomato dish you know could win a prize, take part in the Tomato Cook-Off! Contestants should arrive with their dishes by 3 p.m., and bring enough for several judges to taste test. Bikes and Yoga: Sunday Funday | Sunday, August 23
Detroit Community Yoga and Bikes and Yoga are hosting a special Sunday edition of Bikes and Yoga from 1 to 2 p.m. on Belle Isle. Enjoy free yoga with Jeffrey Friedland and Tim Clark at Sunset Point, no official bike ride will happen at this time. After yoga, you can go on your merry way or stick around and enjoy the island - a few people are planning on heading to the beach and spending their afternoon in swim suits.

Hillel Day School - Spring Shopping Event | Wednesday, May 6
Becca and Rachel Schostak will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Guys N Gals for a day of shopping for a cause. New 2015 spring and summer merchandise will be out for shoppers, who will receive 10% off all purchases. Hillel Day School of Metro Detroit will receive 10% of sales from the shopping event.

Fashion 411 Speaker Series | Thursday, May 6
Are you interested in getting a leg up on the competition? Then check out to the Fashion 411 speaker series happening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Runway Lansing. Learning from others is critical to success, and this speaker series is designed to motivate, inspire and teach. This event will highlight Shinola’s Vice President of Leather, who will share her stories of failures and successes.

Returning Friday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., this fair is the perfect place to enjoy the weather, browse beautiful flowers and garden products and seeing an outdoor art gallery all in the streets on downtown Lake Orion. It’s a great place to do a little Mother’s Day shopping in the sun, or if you already have a gift, spend time with your mom and enjoy the scenery.
