Oh, Shop It: Glam Gardens at Saks Fifth Avenue

Stopped by the Glam Garden party for soothing tea, fresh pastries, spring fashion and refreshing beauty products at Saks Fifth Avenue Troy. Once the tea was poured and scones were plated, we grabbed a seat to get the garden party started.

Saks Fifth Avenue Stylist Manager Shelli Pacioni started things off to talk about the fashion, which was light, bright and easy to wear. For example, she brought out a great little Chanel button-down top paired with a Chanel tweed pencil mini that would be great for a spring day when you have to be at the office, but you also need to go to a backyard BBQ when you get out of work. Then, a chic Nicholas dress that could be worn however you'd like but Shelli suggested a denim jacket and flats for a more casual look, or pumps and a cardigan for a night out. Finally, she pulled out sleek white jeans and an off-the-shoulder top that could be accessorized with a great scarf to keep warm on those cool summer evenings.

The fashion was over and the beauty began with Will and Daniel who went over the benefits of a few different products recommended for the new season. Trish McEvoy Beta Hydroxy pads, the La Mer Reparative Lotion Armani Eye Serum, Cellcosmet and YSL Volupte lipstick were just a few suggested. It was all amazing. We got to try it, smell it, touch it, hold it--everything you want when looking at new beauty products. Personally, the Cellcosmet was my favorite. It's a gel activator that brightens, tightens and softens skin - I tried it on my face, and I literally felt my face tightening for the next hour after the tea party.

This was a great way to spend the morning, not only because we got to preview some great stuff, but also because I now know what to get the women in my life for Mother's Day! Two birds, one stone.

Oh, Shop It: Spring is in the Air at Saks Troy

DGG was invited to the Spring Style Breakfast put on by the fabulous ladies at Saks Fifth Avenue Troy. Once everyone got their cinnamon rolls, muffins and fruit parfaits and coffee, Stylist Manager Shelli Pacioni started the Saks Hit List presentation.

Stars and Stripes was the first trend and it was amazing. From literal stars and stripes, to a looser interpretation of it with the colors of the flag, this trend is incredibly versatile and a great way to be patriotic without looking like your outfit is screaming "I LOVE AMERICA". Black and white was another great trend that just doesn't seem to quit - it's so versatile, can be dressed up and down and is easy to style.

On The Town: 3...2...1 (re)launch at Saks Troy

Arriving only 5 minutes late, the renewed Contemporary Department at Saks Fifth Avenue in Troy was already swimming with fashionistas sipping on champagne and grabbing a couple of light bites while walking through the store to enjoy the new view.

All of your favorite brands were on display including Elizabeth & James, Vince and Helmut Lange, along with new brand The Kooples, who sent a rep to the store for the special occasion. Once our flutes were full of bubbly, we made our way over to the runway for the show. It started with a dance team performing down the runway. They had impressive moves, and it was a great precursor to the fashion.

The fashion was outstanding, but I'm sure you already expected as much even if you weren't in attendance. Everything was springy, bright and already has me craving Spring dresses (I know, I know - Winter has only begun). Once the show was over, guests enjoyed more champagne and cocktails, more fashion and even a fashion sketch of themselves. If you're doing any holiday shopping at the Somerset Collection, make sure you stop by to see the new space!

Oh, Shop It: Support the Judson Center at Shop for a Cause

This Wednesday is a perfect day to pick up that sundress or fun skirt you have been eyeing since the spring/summer collections have hit the stores. Saks Fifth Avenue has partnered with the Judson Center for a day full of shopping for a wonderful cause, and an evening of cocktails.

From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., stop into Saks Fifth Avenue and 10% of your purchases will go to support the Judson Center’s Lahser Children’s Respite Home, Oakland County’s only respite home for children with disabilities. Once you’ve shopped until you (almost) drop, join Judson Center representatives from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for complimentary light bites and refreshments.

Here’s a little background about the Judson Center, if you don’t already know. Lahser is part of the Judson Center, and it’s the only respite home in Oakland County that provides relief for families who struggle to take care of children with disabilities. Due to cuts in state aid for mental health, this home is in danger of closing in September. Many families who rely on this help have either received a reduced number of days or are no longer able to utilize their services.

If you cannot attend the event, but wish to make a donation, please send to the Development Judson Center at 4410 W. 13 Mile Rd., Royal Oak, MI 48073, or make a payment online. Saks Fifth Avenue is located at 2901 W Big Beaver Rd., in Troy.

See you there!
