Wednesday, November 4 is the official grand opening, but DGG was invited to the media preview and we wanted to give you a sneak peek of what's in store for your future Will Leather Goods visit. But first, a little background: Oregon-based Will Leather Goods specializes in men's and women's handcrafted bags and accessories. Although they are based in Oregon, William Adler was born and bred right here in Detroit, so it's a perfect fit. This Midtown Detroit location marks its eighth opening across the county but first in the Midwest.
"I am proud and humbled to be returning to Detroit, to the city that made me who I am today, and to be able to share the quality, passion and integrity that the Will Leather Goods brand represents with the people of Detroit," said Adler. " We look forward to much success in our newest location, but just knowing that Will Leather Goods is playing a small part in the rebirth and growth of Midtown, and that we're helping some very deserving area students, is a reward onto itself."
The store is huge. Huge. A full 9,000 sq. ft. of retail was designed by Birmingham, Mich.-based-architects, McIntosh Poris and Associates and William Adler himself. This location in particular will feature new and vintage belts, bags, hats and wallets as well as home goods priced between $45 and $1,200. Not only can you come in and do a little shopping, but inside the store is a WLG Coffee Station and Robert Adler Community Art Gallery, which features rotating art shows from local and nationally recognized artists and photographers.
Will Leather Goods is located at 4120 2nd Avenue, in the former Tomboy supermarket building. The store will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Happy shopping!
