Do It: This Weekend’s Fashion, Beauty and Style Events that Are Not To Be Missed

This weekend is chock-full of fun and fashionable things to do, so if you’re itching to hit the town, these events will keep you busy!

Women in the City Celebration | Wednesday, September 16
Celebrate the strides that powerful and influential women make each day from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Bamboo Detroit. Learn from and celebrate three women who have devoted their positivity and drive to Detroit. Linda Walter from the Detroit Outdoor Adventure Cetner, Ellen Trudell a current Communication Coordinator for the Detroit Lions, and Sara Aldridge a music enthusiast and Detroit DJ will be on hand to talk about making their mark on the city. Wine and light bites will be available for guests, and don't forget to bring your business cards, as this is a great place to network and discuss how women can more up and support one another in Detroit. Tickets for the event are $5, and available on Eventbrite.

September Drinks x Design and DDF Kick Off | Thursday, September 17
Come drink, share thoughts about fashion, and network with some of Detroit’s creative community before the Detroit Design Festival. From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., come to Drinks x Design to jumpstart a great festival of Detroit talent. Drink, mingle and explore open studios from all the tenants, featuring some extremely talented artists in the area. Enjoy Tart’s performance while sampling tasty cuisine from local food trucks as you network and prepare for a great week at DDF.

2015 Made in Michigan Festival | Friday, September 18
Enjoy pure Michigan from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Ice Arena. Start your morning with a Miles for Meals 5K walk to help raise funds for a senior meal program, and refuel with a Hog Wild BBQ contest, beer gardens, and food trucks. Get into the Autumn flow and grab a hot coffee and listen to local bands, while your kids enjoy fun activities. Walk around to see unique gifts, art, and products all made in Michigan this weekend.

This festival will be held at St. Clair Shores Civic Ice Arena, located in St. Clair Shores.

Artworks Detroit 20th Anniversary | Friday, September 18
Need some new ideas for date night? We’ve got one. Come bid on 150 pieces of fine art, enjoy a strolling fashion show, and listen to live entertainment from 6:00-11:45pm to spice up your Friday night. Mix and mingle with tasty appetizers and delicious cocktails. Tickets can be purchased on the Artworks Detroit website at $75. Proceeds from this event go to Michigan AIDS Coalition to continue promoting HIV/AIDS counseling as well as testing, prevention, and educational efforts in metro Detroit.

Artworks Detroit Anniversary party will be held at 2051 Rosa Parks Blvd., located in Detroit.

Photo Day at Russel Industrial Center | Saturday, September 19
If you've been dying to take pictures around Detroit, or to get that perfect industrial background for your blog post outfit of the day, then stop by from 3 to 10 p.m. at the Russel Industrial Center, as the campus exterior will be fully accessible for photography. When you post your photos, hashtag #RussellIndustrialCenter so they can see your photos, and one lucky photographer will have their picture featured as the cover photo on Facebook for one month. September Detroit SOUP + Build Bazaar | Sunday, September 20
Come learn about and help fund a creative project in Detroit, while eating a delicious potluck dinner supplied, in part, by FoodLab Detroit. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a little mixing and mingling, the proposals start around 7 p.m. Different groups will speak about their projects they need funded in Detroit, and guests can vote for the project they think should win the money raised from dinner. Dinner will happen around 8 p.m., and the winners will be announced before everyone leaves around 9 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring a minimum $5 donation and food to pass. Build Institute will feature 15 vendors from their monthly Build Bazaar, everything from artisanal candles and soap to fresh baked goods and handmade wares.
